Academy Science Teacher Attends CSTA Equity Workshop

The Computer Science Teacher Association CSTA exists under the umbrella of the Association for Computer Machinery ACM. CSTA promotes the teaching of Computer Science CS. ACM is the largest educational and scientific computing society. Equity is a timely societal concept that intersects many disciplines and societal samples. One way to view equity is to observe, assess and ask if there is a fair and just balance? If not, what can be done to make the playing field more level? An obvious view we may observe in society today is financial wealth, the “haves” and “have nots.” We may observe the “haves” get more pluses at the end of the day than the “have nots.” We can not ignore an identified problem without addressing the problem with a realistic solution. Of course, as teachers, we look at this primarily from the classroom perspective. Do you have an equity challenge and / or solution? Please send it to my attention!
